And while this is a fantastic treatment option for removing hair, it can also have a positive impact on your skin. But how? Well, this is our guide to why laser hair removal is a better choice for the quality of your skin.

Why is laser hair removal better for the skin?

There are a number of reasons why laser hair removal is a much better option for the quality of your skin, when compared to waxing or shaving methods. This including the facial skin too. These reasons include:

  • Reducing ingrowing hairs
  • Less skin irritation
  • Smooth skin

Laser hair removal can reduce ingrowing hairs

Ingrowing hairs can be a frustrating and reoccurring problem. These are often coarse or curly hairs that grow underneath the skin, and fail to produce a follicle that penetrates the skin. Ingrown hairs can form in two different ways:

  • By growing out of the side wall of the follicle instead of penetrating the skins surface.
  • By becoming trapped within the hair follicle due to new skin growth.

When hair gets trapped in this way, it generally forms a lump or small spot but these can easily become infected leading to pustules that can permanently scar or damage the skin. This disruption to the hair growth, and the associated pain, discomfort, and potential infections often arise after waxing or shaving. However, laser hair removal destroys the hair follicles at the source. This means that the hair itself doesn’t get a chance to become ingrown. With several treatments, hairs become thinner and lighter decreasing the likelihood of this happening again.

Less skin irritation with laser hair removal

Shaving and waxing are the two other options for removing unwanted hair. And each of these processes can cause skin irritation, including rashes and razor burn. With laser hair removal, the hair is removed using a heat process, which means that the skin itself is much less likely to be damaged by the treatment. And while it might be uncomfortable at the time, it is often considered to be much less painful than waxing, and doesn’t leave behind the itchy redness of shaving. It’s a win win!

Smooth skin with laser hair removal

Finally, laser hair removal can remove hair permanently, especially in problem areas. This means that you will have smooth skin, all the time. And this has an advantageous effect on skin quality. By removing the hair, there will be less dirt and dead skin cells trapped to the outer layer of your skin, and this can prevent infections, bacteria and spots from developing, helping you stay healthy.
